Although our Week One suicide pool pick kept things close for a while, in the end, the Saints cruised to a 45-27 win over Detroit. They were an easy choice against the now 0 for last 18 Lions and allowed us to save some of our top tier teams for later on.

This week, we’re following a similar strategy. For our Week Two suicide pool pick, our selection in the Washington Redskins. They have the luxury of facing the St. Louis Rams, a team that was pulverized 28-0 in head coach Steve Spagnuolo’s debut against the Seattle Seahawks.

Offensively, look for the Skins to commit to the run. Portis should receive between 20-25 carries and pick up a lot of yardage. Julius Jones ran for 117 yards and a TD last week and he’s half the back Portis is. Once they establish the run, look for Campbell to effectively utilize the passing game and locate TE Chris Cooley and WR Santana Moss all day down the field.

Defensively, Washington realizes that Steven Jackson is the only player on the Rams who can hurt them. But Free Agent DT Albert Haynesworth is the perfect equalizer for that. They’ll limit the Rams rushing attack and then force QB Marc Bulger into multiple sacks and a few turnovers.

By the time this one is in the books, expect an easy double digit win for the Redskins.

And a trip to Week Three of your suicide pool.
