Fantasy Booms

1. Aaron Rodgers vs. Cincinnati Bengals

In a week of difficult match-ups across the board, Rodgers is our top QB in Week Two. He’s coming off a sub par effort vs. the Bears, in which he threw for less than 200 yards and one TD late in the game; we don’t expect that to continue this week. Look for him to spread the ball around all afternoon and locate Jennings up top for at least one big play. 250 yards and two to three TDs.

2. Clinton Portis vs. St. Louis Rams

While Peterson is the obvious choice at running back, we think Portis will have a huge game against the lowly Rams on Sunday. After getting torched by Julius Jones in their Week One loss, it’s apparent the Rams defense is still very much a work in progress. We see the Skins relying heavily on the run and Clinton easily surpassing the 100 yard mark with at least one score, possibly two.

3. Andre Johnson vs. Tennessee Titans

The Titans defense proved very stout against the run in their Opening Night loss to the Steelers, but showed they were vulnerable through the air (Holmes, 131 yards and one TD). Johnson has always had success vs. the Titans throughout his career and that trend will continue this week as Houston will be in pass mode for much of the afternoon. Over 100 yards and a score.

Fantasy Busts

1.  Carson Palmer vs. Green Bay Packers

Palmer still appeared to be working off some rust in their loss to the Broncos. For most of the afternoon, his offensive line failed to provide the necessary time to go down the field and he was forced to get the ball out quickly. The Packers on the other hand were extremely aggressive and forced Jay Cutler, last week’s fantasy bust, into four turnovers and a few sacks.

We expect Palmer to have a long day against this aggressive Packers defense.

2. LaDanian Tomlinson vs. Baltimore Ravens

For starters, no one runs on the Ravens in the first place. Secondly, Tomlinson really showed his age in their win over the Raiders and came out of that game banged up. That’s not going to cut it against a defense like the Ravens so if you have a quality fantasy back-up, now is a good week to play him.

3. Marques Colston vs. Philadelphia Eagles

This isn’t a good fantasy football match-up for Colston. He’ll probably be covered by CB Asante Samuel for most of the afternoon and Samuel’s been known to take top receivers out of the game. His chances for big plays will also be limited because the aggressive Eagles defense should force Brees into getting rid of the ball off sooner than he’d like to avoid sacks.
