Our Week Two Suicide Pool Pick made things a lot closer than we expected, but that’s what tends to happen when you pick a Jason Campbell/Jim Zorn led team. Amazingly, against a team coming off a 28-0 blowout loss to the Seattle Seahawks, the Redskins were only able to manage FGs against the Rams and hung on for a 9-7 win in their home opener.
It was close and came down to the final seconds, but in the end, we move on to play another week and were able to use a below average team to do so.
For our Week Three suicide pool pick, we’re going with the Green Bay Packers, a team looking to bounce back from a bad home loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Offensively, look for the Packers to finally get their passing attack on track in St. Louis. In the first two weeks, Aaron Rodgers, a 4,000 yard passer from a year ago, has been held in check. His offensive line hasn’t been doing its job and star receiver, Greg Jennings, hurt his wrist.
This week, look for Green Bay to use the pass to set-up the run; Jennings and Driver will pick up big chunks of yards as the Rams secondary will be unable to keep up with them. They’ll then feed the ball to Ryan Grant who will eat away at the clock and keep the chains moving.
Defensively, DC Dom Capers will focus his attention on RB Steven Jackson and keeping him under wraps. Once that’s been accomplished, or the Packers have jumped out to a commanding lead, look for Green Bay to blitz repeatedly and force QB Marc Bulger into sacks and a few turnovers.
And when the clock has hit triple zeros, the Packers will have won an easy contest and you’ll be moving on to Week Four.
