Top pick

1. New England Patriots (+3) vs. Bal – See money line bet analysis.

Next

2. Arizona Cardinals (+3.5) vs. Phi – The Eagles come into this beat up along the offensive line and turning the ball over 4-5 times per game. Their only saving grace has been the defense. Traveling to Arizona is never very easy for East Coast teams and the 2-0 Cards, who are playing excellent defense and good enough offense, will not only cover the point spread but win the game outright in a close contest.

3. Detroit Lions (-3.5) vs. Ten – The Titans are an absolute mess on both sides of the ball. Something just isn’t clicking with this coaching regime because there is plenty of talent on offense but it’s been abysmal to date. Look for the Lions to rebound from Sunday Night’s disappointing showing and win by a TD.

4. Dallas Cowboys (-8) vs. TB – The Cowboys were embarrassed in Seattle and are ready to put that behind them in their home opener. They’ll do so this week when the Bucs come to town. Look for Tony Romo to have  field day against an overmatched secondary and lead Dallas to the 10-17 point win.

The Rest

Cincinnati Bengals (+3) vs. Was – RGIII is playing lights out, but the loss of both LB Brian Orakpo and LB Adam Carriker on defense is HUGE. The Skins D was already struggling and the Bengals are getting their best pass rusher, DE Carlos Dunlap, back.  Look for a close game with the Bengals pulling out the road win.

New York Jets (-3) vs. Mia – The Jets will / should have CB Darelle Revis back this week, and he’s the difference maker on that side of the ball. While the Fins rolled the Raiders a week ago, it won’t happen here. RB Reggie Bush will be contained and QB Ryan Tannehill will turn the ball over. Look for NY to win by a TD.

Houston Texans (-2) vs. Den – The Broncos will be ready following a short week, but the Texans look like the class of the AFC. They’re built to push teams around and we think they’ll pound their way to the seven point win on Sunday, while the defense frustrates Peyton Manning most of the afternoon.

Money Line Bet

New England Patriots (+125) vs. Bal – The Ravens VERY easily could be 2-0 but let a winnable game slip through their hands as the result of poor play calling late in the 4th and lousy officiating vs. the Eagles. The Patriots on the other hand were likely looking past the Cardinals to this game and suffered a remarkable loss as 13.5 point favorites.

Both teams are facing a 1-2 start, but it won’t be the Patriots who end up at that mark. Bill Belichick and Tom Brady have a way of rebounding after poor showings and will turn it on Sunday Night.

Expect Brady and the offense to thrive against a tough Ravens D and put 27 points on the board by spreading them out. Defensively, the Patriots are an improved unit, and its young players are starting to understand the game better and make bigger plays, so expect the talented Ravens O to be held to 21 points in a 27-21 New England win.
