A story came out early this morning that Giants’ star receiver, Plaxico Burress, had been suspended for two weeks, one game, for conduct detrimental to the team. Being as tight lipped as Tom Coughlin is, I highly doubt that all of the details will come out, but apparently he didn’t show up at the stadium on Monday or Tuesday and then didn’t return calls to the team. He apparently thought a bye week meant he could take a mini unannounced vacation from the team.

Now, if I just sign a contract that will ensure my own and my family’s financial security for the rest of my life, to the tune of $35M, you can bet the house that my employers’ phone number is in my fave 5, and probably in the top 3 of the speed dial, behind family and significant other. I want all lines of communication open at all times, and no mistakes that might lead to whatever transpired in the past few days.

Without further knowledge of the situation, everything is just speculative, but based on Burress of ’07, as opposed to Burress of ’00-’06, I do not foresee this issue lingering on and he should be ready to go when the Giants head to the Dawg pound for a Monday night game vs. Cleveland in week 5.

This sure does suck for Burress’ fantasy owners though, myself included. I’d love to call him and thank him personally although I’m not sure I’d get through…
