1. New England Patriots vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Pats are coming off an outstanding performance in which they actually limited the Titans to negative passing yards. They also didn’t surrender a point. This is another excellent match-up for the Patriots defense and we think once the offense jumps out to a lead, the defense will force multiple sacks and turnovers.
2. Indianapolis Colts vs. St. Louis Rams
The Colts defense is finally getting healthy and is coming off its bye. They get the lowly Rams on Sunday and Freeney and Mathis should be able to create havoc for Marc Bulger, especially if the Colts jump out to a commanding lead. Expect a top fantasy football effort with multiple sacks and a few turnovers as well.
3. Green Bay Packers vs. Cleveland Browns
The Packers are finally beginning to grasp Dom Capers system and the results were evident in Week Six. They shutout the Lions at home and forced a few turnovers in the process. They’re primed for another big effort in Week Seven and you can bet that Derek Anderson will be picking himself up off the ground a few times on Sunday.
4. Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Redskins
The Eagles aren’t as aggressive – or good – defensively as they were under Jim Johnson, but they’re still good enough to stifle a disappearing Redskins offense. The Redskins lost 14-6 to the Chiefs last Sunday and look to be easy pickings for the Eagles once again on Monday Night.
Sleepers
1. Carolina Panthers vs. Buffalo Bills
The Carolina Panthers have shown signs of life on defense in the last two weeks and have a relatively easy match-up vs. the Bills on Sunday. With the likelihood that Ryan Fitzpatrick will have to line up behind center, look for Peppers and Co. to get to the QB. Expect Carolina to be a strong fantasy sleeper play in this one.
2. Oakland Raiders vs. New York Jets
As improbable as it seems, the Raiders held the high flying Eagles offense to just nine points. This week they face Mark Sanchez, who’s coming off a five pick performance vs. the Bills. Look for the Jets game plan to be more conservative meaning the Raiders will have an opportunity to keep the score low.
Others We Like
New York Giants vs. Arizona Cardinals
The Giants were humiliated by Drew Brees and the Saints because they were unable to pressure the QB. Look for New York to mix in more blitzes in order to force Warner to throw earlier than he’d like. The front four should get more pressure on Warner and put him on his back a few times.
New York Jets vs. Oakland Raiders
The Jets should do well in this one even without DT Kris Jenkins manning the middle. Against good teams, the Jets defense would struggle to overcome this loss, but the Raiders aren’t a good team. Look for Ellis, Pace, Scott and Co. to wreak havoc on Russell all afternoon and for the Raiders to turn the ball over at least twice.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Minnesota Vikings
Favre has played exceptionally well lately but he has been playing inside domes (St. Louis was his road game). He gets the Steelers in Pittsburgh in Week Seven and you can bet that Polamalu and Co. will be ready to play. It should be cold as well. Look for a big time effort from the defending Super Bowl Champions on Sunday.
