The Titans have been absolutely horrible on pass defense in 2009. They allowed David Garrard to pass for 323 yards and three TDs against them on Sunday to give you an idea of how bad it is. Manning is off to his best start ever and has tossed for 300 yards or more in all four games. Look for another 300 yard effort with at least three TDs for our top fantasy football QB in Week Five.
2. Kurt Warner vs. Houston Texans
Warner and Co. have had an extra week to find their rhythm on offense, and this is a favorable match-up at home. The Texans don’t possess the talent in their secondary to be able to keep up with the likes of Fitzgerald, Boldin and Breaston, so expect a solid performance with over 250 yards and three TDs.
3. Donovan McNabb vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The only thing which will prevent McNabb from having a big fantasy day is if the Eagles jump out to an early lead and run out the clock. But Reid’s preference to pass rather than run will suit McNabb owners well. Expect at least 250 yards and two TDs, one of them being of the longer variety to WR DeSean Jackson.
4. Tony Romo vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Romo struggled badly on Sunday and failed to throw a TD for the second consecutive game. What’s becoming evident is that the Cowboys line isn’t able to pass protect on its own and they’re being forced to keep Jason Witten in as an extra blocker. And they just don’t have the talent on the outside. Regardless, against a young and inexperienced Chiefs defense, look for Romo to bounce back with 250 yards and multiple TDs this week.
1. David Garrard vs. Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks have shown they’re vulnerable against the pass and have been torched in each of the last two weeks. The Jaguars passing game came to life last Sunday and we think Garrard’s a fine fantasy sleeper when the Jags head Northwest.
2. Trent Edwards vs. Cleveland Browns
Edwards has been struggling mightily, and could be close to being replaced if he doesn’t pick it up. But these are the Browns, a team EVERYONE passes on. We like Edwards to locate Owens and Evans a lot on Sunday and finish with a solid stat line.
Others We Like
Tom Brady vs. Denver Broncos
We’re still not convinced the Broncos are legit and we think Brady and Co. will expose them on Sunday. Expect Moss and Welker to have busy days on Sunday and for Brady to toss at least two TDs.
Ben Roethlisberger vs. Detroit Lions
Roethlisberger absolutely lit up the Chargers D in Week Four and now faces a team that was torched by Chicago on Sunday. Look for Big Ben to locate Ward, Holmes and Wallace for at least two TDs.
Matt Schaub vs. Arizona Cardinals
Schaub suffered from a poor fantasy performance on Sunday due to the circumstances of the game. Once they went up by 20, Houston stopped passing. He’ll be asked to do a lot more vs. the Cardinals and we like for him to locate Johnson, Walter and Daniels all afternoon.
